The Power of Story Maps in Education


This workshop is part of the 2017 Summer Spatial Institute

Come learn how to use Story Maps to present and share maps both inside and outside the classroom.

Option 1:
    August 2-3, 2017, 8:30am to 4:30pm
    Unity Elementary School, Unity, NH

    August 14-15, 2017, 8:30am to 4:30pm
    Hopkinton Middle High School, Contoocook, NH​

Summary:
Driven by Esri's ArcGIS Online, Story Maps are a great way to have students share information and tell their story of their work. Activities in this workshop on getting up and running with Story Maps in your classroom, including how to create and configure the map to best communicate with your audience. We will also use a mobile app, Snap2Map, to build Story Maps in the field with a mobile device.

In this workshop, we will cover:
  • using ArcGIS Online to make maps,
  • adding photos to online maps
  • creating and editing Story Maps 
  • using mobile devices (smartphones, tablets) to create Story Maps in the field

You will have the opportunity to earn:
  • $200 stipend from the GeoPRiSM MSP project     
  • Graduate credits from Keene State College
