Mobile Mapping with Survey123


This workshop is part of the 2017 Summer Spatial Institute



Come learn how to get students working with mobile devices (smartphones, tablets) to map their world!

Summary:
Learn how to get your students using mobile devices (smartphones, tablets) to collect GIS data in the field, complete with drop-down menus and online syncing! This class will cover the use of the mobile app Survey123 to plan and carry out field data collection projects using Esri's ArcGIS Online platform. The workshop will begin by covering the basics of mobile data collection and will progress into the setup and hands-on use of both apps. Time will also be spent helping teachers plan how to put Survey123 to use in their classroom.

In this workshop, we will cover:
  • using mobile device to collect map data
  • creating custom data collection forms for mapping projects
  • configuring and managing online mapping 
  • determining the best ways to use mobile mapping in your classroom
  • how to access a set of tablets for your classroom
