Bioblitz: Citizen Science Made Easy with iNaturalist

Come learn how to conduct a Bioblitz at your school! No experience necessary!

Summary:

Want to engage in a global citizen science project that is wicked easy to do?  This one-day worksop will teach you  how to plan and conduct a Bioblitz using the  iNaturalist app as well as the basics of mapping your data using ArcGIS Online.  No experience necessary!  

In this workshop, we will cover:
  • What is a bioblitz?
  • Tools of the trade:  inaturalist, tablets, apps, gps, datasheets
  • Practice a real mini-bioblitz
  • After the bioblitz:  Bringing bioblitz data into ArcGIS Online.
What to Bring:  If you have your own school tablet, please bring it.  If not, we will have some to share.  Please download the app “inaturalist” before the workshop available from the Apple app store or Google Play store. http://www.inaturalist.org/

You will have the opportunity to earn:
  • $100 stipend from the GeoPRiSM MSP project     
  • Graduate credits from Keene State College
